“We are very concerned that Canadian doctor and humanitarian worker Tarek Loubani was shot yesterday in Gaza… Canada is very deeply saddened and deplores the violence that has occurred in the Gaza Strip… It is appalling and inexcusable that civilians, members of the media, first responders and children have been among the victims.” – Adam Austen, a spokesperson for Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland, quoted by Fatima Syed in “Ontario doctor shot while aiding Palestinians in Gaza” – Toronto Star, May 15th, 2018. (This is a very revealing article, you can read it here.)

Four items in total…

“Hundreds of Israeli soldiers, many of them snipers, were deployed to the deadly buffer zone that the Israeli army has created between besieged Gaza and Israel, as tens of thousands of Palestinian families held mass rallies at the border… By killing and wounding this number of Palestinians, Israel had hoped that the masses would retreat, the protests would subside and, eventually, end.” – Ramzy Baroud, “Why Israel feels threatened by popular resistance in Palestine” – CounterPunch, April 11, 2018.

“(US Ambassador to the UN Nikki) Haley, of course, understands that no Palestinian leadership can engage politically with Israel and the US when the two countries refuse to accept international law as a frame of reference in the negotiations. Now the Palestinian leadership has to choose between its existing humiliation and further humiliation.” – Ramzy Baroud, “Race law takes Jerusalem a step closer to being a Jewish-only city” – Arab News, Jan. 3rd, 2018.

Random Quotations- Israel – Nov. 19th, 2017

Four items in total… all concerned with Britain’s Priti Patel and her visit to Israel managed by the Conservative Friends of Israel’s Lord Polak.

“Questions were rightly raised as to what was behind Patel’s flouting of diplomatic protocol and failure to inform the British Foreign Office about these meetings….it beggars belief that a senior member of the government was oblivious of her own government’s policy of not engaging with Israel on any issues relating to the Golan Heights that might be interpreted as a recognition of Israel’s right to that territory… But perhaps Patel’s own assessment was that the British government has become so one-sided in its support of Israel that she could get away with even this irresponsible act of folly.” – Yossi Mekelberg, “Priti Patel exposed the truth about Britain and Israel” – Arab News, Nov. 18th, 2017.

Mid-East Wars and Muslim Invasion – Israel’s “Two-For-One”

“Not to be forgotten is the earlier PNAC scheme devised in the late 1990s by the prominent American Jewish neocons, including Irving Kristol, Norman Podhoretz, Paul Wolfowitz, and David Frum, whose goal was less the desire to raise the level of political tolerance in Arab states but rather the compulsive wish to double down on Israeli predominance in the Middle East… As long as the main pivot of US and EU foreign policy revolves around the unquestionable support of Israel and its Western fifth column, actors bent on causing chaos will be waiting in the wings.” (*)

All emphasis added – five items in total…

“Jewish villages were built in the place of Arab villages. You do not even know the names of these Arab villages, and I do not blame you because geography books no longer exist… There is not a single place built in this country that did not have a former Arab population.” – Moshe Dayan quoted by Ramzy Baroud in “The balancing act is over: What Elor Azaria taught us about Israel” – Palestine Chronicle, Jan. 19th, 2017.

“Both the University of Lethbridge Faculty Association and the Canadian Association of University Teachers criticized Hall’s suspension before any official finding of wrongdoing… Amanda Hohmann with B’nai Brith Canada said she’s pleased with how the university has handled the situation…” – Cdn. Press, “University of Lethbridge complaining to human rights commission over prof” – Toronto Sun, Jan. 16th, 2017.

Obama allows anti-Israel vote at the U.N. on settlements…

“In a striking rupture with past practice, the United States allowed the UN Security Council on Friday to condemn Israeli settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem as a ‘flagrant violation’ of international law. In doing so, the outgoing Obama administration brushed aside Donald Trump’s demands that the U.S. exercise its veto and provided a climax to years of icy relations with Israel’s leadership… And it could have significant ramifications for the Jewish state, potentially hindering Israel’s negotiating position in future peace talks. Given the world’s widespread opposition to settlements, the action will be almost impossible for anyone, including Trump, to reverse.” (*)

Occupied Territories – November 20th, 2016

Just as a reminder, I always include “Occupied Territories” posts in the “Israel Lobby” category also, because I don’t believe that these disgraceful violations of human rights would be tolerated by the rest of the world were it not for Lobby propaganda, threats and smears. -JG.

Water supply to several Palestinian villages reduced, causing shortages

Private Palestinian land was “given” to Israeli farmers – Israel (sic) authorities handed this land over to the Israeli farmers in the 1980s, despite having no authority to hand over any land located within the 1967 boundaries

The Palestine Chronicle – bloodied but unbowed!

“…the last six months were particularly interesting. We were recently ‘accused’ by the spokesperson by the Israeli Embassy in London of being the second most popular website among supporters of a certain Palestinian resistance faction, were derided by the Jerusalem Post, and were also subject to hundreds of hackers’ attacks, which forced us to change servers and heighten our security… Amidst all this, the Palestine Chronicle prevailed. In fact, we are stronger than ever before, not only in our determination to carry through for as long as it takes to shed light on the suffering of the Palestinians, but our readership has escalated dramatically.”
