China challenges the U.S. in the South China Sea

The Philippine Navy has only one larger vessel, the former U.S. Coast Guard cutter ‘Hamilton’.  It was commissioned into service just four months ago.  They also have several lightly armed “fast attack” boats, and very little else.  Clearly the U.S. will have to involve itself in this Chinese act of strategic aggression…
