Delegates attending the Newfoundland and Labrador Liberal convention last weekend voted in favour of a motion to reduce the voting age to 16.
The motion was moved by Ryan Steeves, president of the MUN Liberals, a campus club at Memorial University. Steeves expressed the opinion that reducing the voting age “…allows people to start voting at a stable point in their life” as by the age of 18 they have mostly left home for college or work.
