This will probably be the last post of this type, as commentators are now becoming speculative, and “protests” have become so common as to be of interest only in the overall sense.
“Furor has arisen over President-elect Donald Trump’s charges that our intelligence agencies are politicized… Spare us the outrage. For decades, directors of intelligence agencies have often quite inappropriately massaged their assessments to fit administration agendas… Careerists at these agencies naturally want to continue working from one administration to the next in ‘the king is dead; long live the king!’ style. So they make the necessary political adjustments, which are sometimes quite at odds with their own agency’s findings and to the detriment of national security. The result is often confusion – and misinformation passed off as authoritative intelligence.” – Victor Davis Hanson, “It’s no revelation that intelligence agencies are politicized” – RealClear Politics, Jan. 19th, 2017.
“2016 was the year the Anglo-Saxon world woke up. I am sure 2017 will be the year the people of continental Europe wake up” – French National Front Leader Marine Le Pen, quoted by Paul Carrel in “French far-right leader Le Pen calls on Europeans to wake up” – reuters.com. Jan. 21st, 2017.
“From among the most important obligations during this stage is to support those institutions and organizations that serve the Muslim community, such as those interested in defending freedoms, civil rights and political activism, those dedicated to social services and relief, and those dedicated to dawah, religious instruction and providing religious rulings… It is most unbelievable that there are some who cry over the state of the community and then they are too stingy to donate their time or money to such organizations. Worse than that are those who are even too stingy to pray for them or give them a kind word. But the worst of all are those who seek to destroy such organizations… No one knows the unseen except Allah. It is possible that an individual hates something while Allah has placed a lot of good for him in it. We must prepare for any possibility while hoping for the best outcomes.” – Extracts from a Muslim religious Fatwa issued by the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America in response to the election of Donald Trump. Quoted by Leo Hohmann in “Trump has Islamic clerics wetting their pants” posted by WND on Jan. 9th, 2017.
